A unique project in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana
At Construcciones Llull Sastre, we are pleased to announce the completion of the works on the Gran Hotel Margalida by Annua Signature, an exceptional hotel project located in Banyalbufar, in the very heart of Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana.
The opening of the hotel marks the beginning of a new chapter for a unique setting overlooking the Mediterranean, where architecture, heritage, contemporary design and landscape come together to offer a high-end hospitality experience.
The Gran Hotel Margalida occupies the former Hotel Mar i Vent and represents a comprehensive intervention of significant technical and architectural complexity. The project involved the refurbishment and extension of a complex comprising four buildings: three existing structures and one newly built building, all carefully integrated into the topography and traditional character of Banyalbufar.
Refurbishment, construction y respect for the surroundings
One of the main challenges of this project was to combine the restoration of historic buildings with the functional and construction requirements of a contemporary hotel. Each phase required precise planning, meticulous execution and constant coordination between all the teams involved.
A comprehensive refurbishment was carried out on the existing buildings, including major structural works aimed at adapting the constructions to the new requirements of the project, while always preserving their architectural essence. In one of the buildings, the intervention included the replacement of approximately 90% of the existing floor slabs, ensuring safety, stability and durability without losing the original value of the complex.
The construction of the new building also represented a significant technical challenge. Due to the complex topography of the site and the access conditions characteristic of Banyalbufar, micropiling works were carried out, together with an excavation extending up to three levels below street level. The new structure was built with reinforced concrete floor slabs, always seeking maximum integration with both the built and natural surroundings.
Mallorcan tradition and contemporary design
The project was developed with a clear objective: to strike a balance between tradition and modernity. To this end, characteristic elements of Mallorcan architecture have been preserved and restored, such as stone terraces, natural finishes and local materials, integrating them with new spaces designed for wellness, relaxation and the guest experience.
The spa, gym, communal areas, panoramic terraces and landscaped outdoor spaces are all part of an intervention conceived to enhance the landscape and create a constant connection with the Mediterranean.
One of the hotel’s most emblematic spaces is its outdoor infinity pool, facing the sea and perfectly integrated into the landscape of Banyalbufar. Together with its panoramic terraces, it becomes one of the project’s main highlights and a privileged place from which to enjoy the light, tranquillity and sunsets of the Serra de Tramuntana.
