Panorama building finished

After a winter of intense work, this June we have finished the work on the new ‘Beach Club’ in Mallorca. Located on the breakwater of Puerto Portals, with panoramic sea views and an unusual design, the Panorama building will house the ‘Wine Dine’ restaurant and a ‘Swim Spa’ area with infinity pool, sunbeds and Balinese beds.

The execution of this project has been carried out by a joint venture (Unión Temporal de Empresas) formed by Construcciones Llull Sastre S.A.U. and Melchor Mascaró S.A.U.

The complexity of this work lies mainly in its location, on the rocks of the port dyke. To do this, part of the existing breakwater had to be removed, without impairing its functionality, and 3.8 km of micro-piles had to be installed. Subsequently, it had to be waterproofed to prevent water from entering the concrete and the damage to the reinforcement, which it was also painted with a “pasivante” agent to prevent corrosion. Square and circular pillars rise from the foundations to support the ground floor, built with reinforced concrete slabs, which houses a large promenade, the restaurant and the swimming pool.

The building that houses the restaurant has a warped roof that simulates a wave that extends to the ground through a curved wall supported by truncated cone-shaped pillars. For its execution, we used a wood formwork, on which longitudinal wooden ribs were supported every 60 cm which, together with transversal boards on top of them, gave shape to the roof. All the formwork has been entirely handcrafted.

At the rear of the building, next to the warped roof, two tongues have been executed that touch the ground floor surface with a unique design on the island, all clad with TECU copper sheets, respecting the geometry of the project. The pool terrace has a more comfortable area with IPE wood flooring and zarci grey perimeter finishes leading to an impressive swimming pool that rises above the coast to form a unique place on the island.
